In the late 1960s, American guitar manufacturers faced increasing competition from affordable Japanese-made guitars that closely resembled their own models. To address this, American companies launched "Sigma Guitars" in 1970. These acoustic guitars were built by skilled workers in Japanese factories and inspected in the US before reaching the market. Sigma Guitars quickly gained a reputation for their exceptional quality in construction and sound, leading to a dedicated fan base and collectors. Second-hand models are rarely available, as owners are reluctant to part with them.
The Sigma 1 Series 000MC-1E features a 000-14 fret body size and is constructed with a cutaway and a dovetail neck joint. It has a solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, providing a rich and resonant sound. The low-profile mahogany neck, bone nut and saddle, and Micarta fingerboard and bridge ensure durability and excellent playability. The guitar has a scale length of 25.4 inches (645 mm) and a neck width at the nut of 1-11/16 inches (42.9 mm), with a two-way truss rod for precise adjustments.
This model also includes chrome diecast tuning machines for stable tuning and a high gloss finish for an attractive appearance. Equipped with a Sigma preamp and built-in digital tuner, this electro-acoustic is versatile for both live performances and studio recordings. Strung with D'Addario EXP16 strings, the Sigma 1 Series 000MC-1E is designed for musicians who demand quality and reliability.
