Collings OM1 | Custom Torrefied Adirondack Spruce Top & Custom Western Shaded Top Finish
Solid Torrefied Adirondack Spruce Top - Solid Honduran Mahogany Back & Sides
Here we have something really special for all the OM and acoustic guitar lovers out there. As if a Collings OM1 wasn't special enough, this beautiful Custom model has had some seriously upgraded specs.
The Sitka spruce top has been taken right up to Torrefied Adirondack spruce and the bracing has also been changed from Sitka to Adirondack. This was Martin's wood of choice for their Golden Era pre-war guitars in the 1930s and 1940s before it became too scarce to continue using. The nut would normally be 1 11/16" but here it has been changed to 1 3/4" - giving extra room for those who need or prefer it to play their best. The top finish has been changed from Natural to a meticulously applied Western Shaded - giving a unique look when compared to a standard OM1 - especially considering this model also has a custom Tigerstripe pickguard. Finally, the neck has been changed from high gloss polyester resin to a satin finish - providing a very different playing experience.

'OM' stands for 'Orchestra Model', but 80 years after this body shape was first designed it has become the most popular 14-fret model with fingerstyle guitar soloists who choose to play on steel strings. Yet flatpickers also find it appealing; the compact shape makes the Collings OM equally easy to handle onstage or when sitting on the couch, and the relatively shallow body (barely over 4 inches deep) results in balanced tone and an immediate response.
- Precision Tuning - Premium Waverly open-gear tuners offer exceptional tuning stability and smooth reliable operation with a vintage aesthetic.
- Premium Tonewoods - The pairing of Baked Adirondack spruce with Honduran mahogany back and sides creates a guitar with crisp yet warm articulation and a beautiful tonal balance.
- Appointments - Tortoiseshell binding compliments the warm hues of a mahogany back and sides. A black and white wood rosette and mother of pearl dot inlays complete the simple but elegant 1-style appointments.
- Hand Voiced - From the starting point of the wood's density and rigidity, each acoustic guitar top is hand selected, evaluated, and graduated to its own unique thickness; maximising the tonal potential of each top.
- Premium Tonewoods - Each Collings acoustic guitar, from their most affordable model to the highest end, are built with the finest tonewoods available. Each wood is acquired, acclimated, and hand selected by master luthiers at their shop who pick each component with the whole tonality of the end instrument in mind.
- Playability - A combination of exacting PLEK machine levelling and hand fret dressing ensures consistently excellent playability and a silky fret feel.
- Finish - By meticulously hand-sanding between coats, Collings' nitrocellulose lacquer finishes measure between .005" and .007" in final thickness, maximising acoustic response while providing excellent protection and aesthetics.
