The Brian May SJ-200 12-String honours Sir Brian’s contribution to rock music and his deep passion for astronomy. The Gibson SJ-200 in 12-string form is a rare instrument, and this one is particularly special.
With a solid 3A Sitka Spruce top, paired up with solid 3A Indian Rosewood back & sides, this acoustic features a unique voicing with loads of clarity and warmth. It’s super clear, and extremely dynamic to your every touch. If you back off and play gently, the guitar will support you and work with you. The traditional Gibson Vintage Sunburst nitrocellulose finish looks super slick, if you’re a fan of classic Gibson design, then you’re sure to love it. One of the most interest facts about Brian is that he has a doctorate degree in astrophysics, something we achieved a few years back in 2007. Brian’s love for astronomy is reflected in the guitar, it features a unique planetary-themed pickguard, which is a really nice touch.
The 2-Piece 3A Maple neck features a Rounded neck profile, allowing for quick, comfortable movements. It’s certainly got that classic Gibson feel, so if that’s what you’re into, then you’re sure to love this. The Indian Rosewood fingerboard features Agoya 8-point star inlays, 20 frets, a 25.5” scale length, and a 47.625mm nut width. The strings are mounted in reverse order, with the thicker strings at the top, followed by the octave strings beneath, giving it a distinctive sound that’s unlike other Gibson 12-string acoustic models.
This awesome guitar features high-quality appointments and hardware across the board. It features Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners, and a traditional SJ-200 moustache bridge crafted from solid Rosewood.
Only 100 of these exceptional instruments have been crafted by the expert luthiers of the Gibson Custom Shop in Bozeman, Montana. Don’t miss out!
