Description

The Synergy MORGAN AC Preamp Module is a product designed by Joe Morgan, known for his commitment to tonal purity in amplifier design. Morgan's amplifiers are built with high-quality materials and craftsmanship, aiming to provide musicians with tools that accurately reflect the nuances of their electric guitars. His AC series of amplifiers, along with the SW line, has gained recognition for its ability to capture the character of sought-after vintage amplifiers while offering enhanced clarity and complexity. The fact that numerous prominent session guitarists, known for their critical ear, utilise Morgan's amplifiers underscores the quality and tonal accuracy of his designs.

The Morgan AC series of valve amplifiers is particularly praised for its capacity to emulate the classic British Class-A combo sound. These amplifiers offer the headroom required by contemporary players for pedal integration, alongside the ability to produce desirable overdrive tones. Notably, this tonal flexibility is achieved with a straightforward three-knob control layout. The distinct British sonic character of the Morgan AC amplifiers has led to their adoption by leading session musicians in Nashville and renowned touring professionals worldwide.

The Synergy MORGAN AC Preamp Module allows players to access the jangly and versatile tones associated with Morgan AC amplifiers. Designed by Joe Morgan himself, the AC module is intended to replicate the detail and sonic characteristics of his amplifiers. The module features two channels with similar voicing, providing the convenience of switching between two distinct AC tones instantly, a feature not available on the amplifiers themselves. Two 12AX7 preamp valves are incorporated to deliver British-style character and a crisp breakup. Each channel is equipped with a bright switch, enabling users to tailor the preamp's response to different guitars. For musicians seeking authentic AC-style tones, the Synergy MORGAN AC Preamp Module offers a practical solution.

The Synergy AC preamp module includes two channels, each with controls for gain and volume, as well as a bright switch. Both channels share a common three-band equaliser.

A notable feature of the Morgan AC module is a three-position cathode select switch. This patent-pending switch allows users to adjust the bass response of the input valve to emulate the original circuit design of the selected module. This adjustment influences the overall feel and tightness of the sound. Amplifier designers often employ specific combinations of components in their input valve circuits to achieve a desired sonic characteristic. This switch provides access to three popular combinations. The Synergy AC module is shipped with the cathode select switch preset to Joe Morgan's preferred setting for this module, which is position 1 (1.5K resistor and 22uf capacitor).
