The Synergy BOGNER ECSTASY Preamp Module offers guitarists the sought-after tones of Reinhold Bogner's acclaimed Ecstasy 100-watt amplifier in a convenient and cost-effective module format. Bogner's reputation for boutique high-gain amplification is well-established, with his amplifiers being favoured by numerous prominent musicians across various genres, including Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains, Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge, Steve Lukather, George Lynch, Eric Johnson, and the late Walter Becker. The Ecstasy amplifier itself has garnered significant popularity due to its versatile and rich sonic character.

Responding to player demand, Synergy collaborated with Reinhold Bogner over a two-year period to meticulously capture the essence of the Ecstasy within this preamp module. The module features two distinct channels. The Blue channel is based on the Ecstasy's second channel, known for its rock and roll capabilities. This channel offers a range of gain levels, further enhanced by two three-position Pre-EQ switches and a Schizo switch. These controls provide extensive tonal shaping, allowing players to dial in sounds ranging from bluesy overdrive to hard rock distortion.

Switching to the Red channel of the Synergy Ecstasy module unlocks a wealth of harmonically rich gain. This channel, with the same comprehensive control layout as the Blue channel, is ideally suited for expressive lead playing and heavier metal tones. The module effectively delivers the harmonically complex overtones, searing high gain, plexi-style punch, and clear note definition that are hallmarks of the original Bogner Ecstasy amplifier.

A key advantage of the Synergy preamp module system, exemplified by the Bogner Ecstasy module, is its ability to provide access to the signature tones of iconic amplifier designers in all-tube formats. This modular approach caters to the demands of modern guitarists, offering solutions for direct recording, lower stage volume requirements, and the creation of compact guitar rigs. The ease of installing and removing the module from Synergy preamp docks further enhances its practicality.

The Bogner Ecstasy module is equipped with two 12AX7 preamp tubes, which are crucial in delivering its rich harmonic performance. For added flexibility, the module includes a three-position cathode select switch located on the PCB. This switch allows users to configure the input tube bias setting, influencing the input gain and bass response. The switch offers three popular circuit configurations, corresponding to USA voiced amplifiers, British style amplifiers, and SOLDANO/VAI amplifiers. The module is shipped with the setting preferred by Bogner, but users are encouraged to experiment to find their preferred tonal characteristics.

Furthermore, the Bogner Ecstasy module incorporates a Dual/Single slide switch. This feature ensures compatibility with both newer Synergy hardware and older single-channel Egnater and Randall modular amplifiers and preamps that do not support dual-channel modules. When used with older single-channel units, the switch allows the selection of either the top or bottom channel of the module to be active. While channel switching is not possible with the older hardware, this adaptability significantly expands the usability of the Synergy modules.
