Ibanez John Scofield Signature JSM10EM | Two-Tone Burst
Super 58 Pickups w/Tri-Sound Switch - Flame Maple Top - Linden Back & Sides
"I loved the way the neck felt on my 1981 AS200, and that was the guitar I always returned to. You find what you're comfortable with and you stay with it. This became the basis for the JSM John Scofield Model introduced in 2001, which reproduced the original AS200 guitar, with added improvements."
- John Scofield
John Scofield's guitar work has influenced jazz since the late 70s and he is still going strong today. Possessor of a very distinctive sound and stylistic diversity, Scofield is a masterful jazz improviser whose music generally falls somewhere between post-bop, funk edged jazz, and R&B. Touring the world approximately 200 days per year with his own groups, he is an Adjunct Professor of Music at New York University, a husband, and father of two.
The Ibanez John Scofield Signature JSM10EM is designed to offer players exceptional tone, versatility, and playability. Built with a Flamed Maple top and Linden back and sides, this guitar not only has a striking woodgrain finish but also delivers a balanced, natural tone. The Flamed Maple top enhances brightness, while the Linden body adds clarity and precision, making it ideal for a range of musical styles.
The Nyatoh neck of the JSM10EM is crafted to provide a rich mid-low range, adding warmth and depth to your sound. It is paired with a Walnut fretboard, which ensures a well-rounded tonal response from the lower to higher registers. The Walnut material offers a smooth playing experience, complementing the dynamic range of the guitar.
For enhanced accuracy and control, the JSM10EM features medium-sized frets, making it easier to achieve precise notes and smooth transitions. The Super 58 pickups are equipped with moderate output and deliver a classic vintage tone, perfect for both clean and overdriven sounds. The Tri-sound switch further extends the versatility of this guitar by giving the humbucker pickup three distinct tonal options, allowing players to tailor their sound to different playing situations.
In terms of hardware, the Gibraltar Performer bridge ensures rich sustain and tuning stability, while the low-positioned saddles provide comfortable playability for extended sessions. The Quik Change III tailpiece makes string changes quick and hassle-free, making it ideal for players who want to spend more time playing and less time maintaining their instrument.
The Ibanez John Scofield Signature JSM10EM is a versatile and well-crafted guitar that combines vintage tones, modern playability, and practical features to meet the needs of both studio and live performers.
