Faith Mars Bog Oak/Cedar Prototype
Patrick James Eggle is very much the modern day hero of British guitar design. Not content to just build his incredible boutique electrics, Patrick fronts up Faith, creating a range of innovative and highly desirable acoustics.
This guitar comes from a collection of ex demo and prototype models that never made it into full production. Some of these will have been show stock and almost all of them feature slight defects and marks, we will do our best to highlight all the damage but please do bear in mind the origins of these guitars. They do however offer a really great opportunity to get your hands on some incredibly rare Eggle designed Faith guitars for a fraction of the normal price!
This Mars Bog Oak features a Cedar top with a Bog Oak back and sides. Bog Oak is the UK's most precious timber and it is becoming increasingly popular as a guitar tonewood. Its distinctive black colouring is the result of a chemical reaction between the Oak and the irons present in the bog the wood was preserved under. As the wood has dried out it has split across the back in various places, it has previously been repaired but it does suffer aesthetically as a result. What it lacks in its condition it certainly makes up for in tone, this thing sounds huge! This was 1 of a series of 12 guitars.
A Mahogany neck boasts an impressive Macassan Figured Ebony fingerboard with the signature Faith mother of pearl 'F' at the 12th fret.
