Ralph McTell is an English folk hero, his song "Streets of London" is a folk classic and has been covered by over 200 artists worldwide. An accomplished guitar player, McTell has worked closely with Martin to develop the Martin RM50, a fitting tribute to one of folk's most influential characters.
With an Adirondack Spruce top and solid genuine Mahogany back and sides, the RM50 offers a rich and deep tonal range that is perfect for folk playing. It's broad enough for heavy strumming but subtle enough for the delicacies of finger style. Inspired by an original Martin slope shoulder it features a slightly thinner than usual top, this helps the wood resonant and adds towards a lighter design, something that McTell had specified.
The RM50 features a low profile Mahogany neck, with a shorter 24.9" scale length it is similar in design to the guitars that McTell has been touring for years, this helped him to successfully transition to the new model. The Indian Rosewood fingerboard benefits from a 16" radius for a really comfortable and well balanced feel; it's very much a player's guitar.
With a C.F. Martin hardcase and hand signed label from Martin CEO Chris Martin, this guitar is super limited and definitely a worthy addition to any collection.
