Tom Petty is one of the most successful artists of all time, with a decorated career both as a solo artist and with his band "The Heartbreakers" he created some of the most well loved music in the Rock n Roll era. Originally produced in the 1990s the SJ-200 Wildflower was a one off built specifically for Tom, it quickly became one of his most well loved and recognisable guitars in his arsenal, now as a tribute to one of the all time greats, Gibson are proud to present the Tom Petty SJ-200 Wildflower reissue as a super limited run.
King of the Flat-Tops, the Gibson SJ-200 is a household name for guitar players all over the world. This Wildflower reissue is equipped with with a 3A Sitka Spruce with highly figured Maple back and sides. The Sitka Spruce top is beautifully decorated with a Black custom design pickguard engraved with Tom's signature. It delivers a sonically massive tone with plenty of attack whilst keeping a brilliant low end response. It's easy to see why Tom gravitated towards the SJ-200.
Fitted with a truly stunning Flamed Maple neck with a Walnut Stringer, it is incredibly stable and secure. Thanks to the comfortable round neck profile this SJ-200 Wildflower is perfectly at home for lush chord work or higher register lead playing. the bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard is adorned with Small Crown inlays, a 12" radius, 25.5" Scale Length and of course a 1.725" Nut Width. A really nice little detail on this neck is the inclusion of the lyric "You Belong Among the Wildflowers" on the back of the headstock.
In traditional SJ-200 fashion the Wildflower reissue is loaded with a Four bar Rosewood Moustache bridge for a comfortable playing platform with great stability. The Grover imperial tuners make going out of tune a thing of the past, this high quality hardware and LR Baggs Pickup really top of this beauty piece of guitar history.
