At the core of the JRT 9/15 is its innovative dual-voiced preamp section, powered by two 5879 pentodes operating in parallel. Each channel is distinct, offering complementary tonal characteristics: one channel emphasises top-end clarity and later breakup, while the other prioritises low-mid warmth and earlier saturation. These channels can be used independently or blended, giving players unprecedented control over their sound. Intuitive controls, including two independent volume knobs, a six-position tone selector, and a high-cut filter, further enhance the amp's flexibility, allowing fine-tuned adjustments for any musical style or setting.
The power section of the JRT 9/15 is equally impressive, offering two selectable modes. In 9-watt mode, it utilises 6V6 valves in Class A operation, producing the warm, rich tones that defined vintage American amps. Switch to 15-watt mode, and the EL84 valves deliver a bright, chimey response with complex harmonic breakup reminiscent of classic British amps.
