The DigiTech Hammer On is a multi-effects pedal offering guitarists a range of pitch-based manipulations. A key feature is its hands-free hammer-on capability, allowing players to create unique licks and riffs by triggering pitch shifts with their feet while simultaneously playing with their hands. The pedal's flexibility is enhanced by its independent programmable footswitches. The PITCH 1 footswitch provides a momentary pitch shift, either up or down, from the played note. The PITCH 2 footswitch offers three distinct modes of operation, selectable via the MODE button, expanding the pedal's functionality.
The Hammer On effectively combines the functions of seven different pedals into a single unit. These modes include a standard HAMMER-ON function for instantaneous pitch shifting, a HAMMER-ON with TRILL mode for rapid-fire hammer-on effects, and a HARMONY-ON mode for creating instant harmonies. The IMPOSSIBLE Pedal mode enables alternating pitch shifts between two user-selectable amounts. Additionally, the pedal features a DROP/CAPO SEQUENCE mode for multi-setting pitch transposition, a SEQUENCE with TRILL mode for automatic guitar riff sequencing, and a SEQUENCE with DRY and TRILL mode for generating automatic techno-style guitar sequences.
Further control is provided by a DRY+ button, which allows the user to blend in the dry (unaffected) signal with the processed sound. The TRILL button emulates rapid presses of the footswitches, adding another layer of sonic possibilities. The DigiTech Hammer On presents a comprehensive set of tools for guitarists seeking to explore and develop new sonic textures and musical ideas through pitch manipulation. Users are encouraged to experiment with the various modes and settings to fully understand the pedal's potential and discover how it can integrate into their playing style.
