Solid Spruce Top, Solid Pao Ferro Back & Sides
The Luthier Select Series is particularly exciting as it shows Cordoba paying respect to key guitar builders from the past and with fantastic results. These guitars are handmade by a small and dedicated group of elite luthiers and they show Cordoba marrying their own experience as modern guitar builders with the greats of the past.

The Esteso is built after much research and study was done of guitars from the great luthier Domingo Esteso. His guitars are known for being light in design and very responsive to the dynamics of the player. This guitar has a solid spruce top and solid pao ferro back and sides, which look extremely beautiful. Pau Ferro is a wood that also goes under the name Bolivian Rosewood. Cordoba have used this to give classic rosewood tonal characteristics combined with the lightness and good looks of Pau Ferro. As we photograph each Esteso that we have in at Peach, you can be sure to see exactly what the particular wood looks like on the guitar that you're interested in. This is ideal when looking at wood such as Pau Ferro where the look can differ significantly from piece to piece.
The guitar has fan bracing, a style pioneered on classical guitars by Antonio de Torres Jurado. This gives a far superior bass response and dynamics when compared to a ladder-braced classical. In this case the fan bracing is done in the 1930s style of Esteso and features five fans. The binding on the guitar is flamed maple and the rosette is particularly detailed and beautiful, with real mother-of-pearl rather than the often used substitute of pearloid. A final touch of beauty comes from a thinly applied coat of finish used to protect the guitar without stopping the free vibration of the wood. An excellent quality arched, wooden and humidified case is supplied with the guitar to keep it safe so that it may be enjoyed for many decades.
