Description

This beautiful guitar is built in Yamaha's AC body shape.  This is a gorgeous concert-body design, complimented by a cutaway for excellent access to the higher frets and a modern look.  This body has a shallow lower bout, giving it defined lows that don't overpower the instrument and allow for an articulate mid-range.  The top shoulders give it the clear highs that it needs for definition and the overall shape offers fantastic comfort for the player.

Having solid mahogany back and sides allows this guitar to achieve the gorgeous and responsive woody mid-tones that compliment the bright and articulate tones produced by the top.

Thoroughly designed for an excellent plugged-in sound, this instrument features Yamaha's SRT pickup.  This pickup offers a superior tone and performance to that of a more traditional ribbon piezo.  The reason for this is that each string is treated to its own elements for a clean and dynamic response.  The pickup on this guitar is connected to the amazing SRT2 system.  This stands for 'Studio Response Technology 2' and is developed by Yamaha for the ultimate plugged-in tone.  The user can balance the cut of the piezo with the sound of a hi-fi vintage studio microphone.  There are two microphones to choose from - a Neumann KM56 or Royer R122.  The Neuman is a small diaphragm condenser, perfect for capturing the higher melodies and intricacies of acoustic guitar playing.  The Royer is an active ribbon microphone that offers a balanced sound with a gorgeous mids and softer highs.

The top on this guitar has been treated to Yamaha's ARE process.  This is their Acoustic Resonance Enhancement, an amazing feature that gives the guitar a played-in sound and vintage tonal vibe without any cosmetic relicing.

Yamaha are no strangers to making acoustic guitars and have used their decades of experience to create an extremely comfortable neck.  Having added the opinions of many players, builders and guitar techs into the mix, the result is a neck that feels easy to play with excellent high access.  The finishing touch is hand-rolled fingerboard edges for a comfortable, played-in feel.

For excellent protection and ease of transport, the A3 models are shipped in a hard bag.
