Here we have a stunning Xotic XSC-2, built in January 2018. This guitar was initially ordered for one of our regular customers, who recently traded it back along with a few other pieces. Although it's second-hand, it was ordered, sold, and now reacquired by us, which is always a pleasure.
Xotic XSC guitars are meticulously hand-built by the Xotic team, featuring a nitrocellulose finish, a flame-roasted maple neck treated with oil for exceptional playability, and Raw Vintage hand-wound pickups based on Xotic's proprietary design.
The XSC-2 model denotes its H-S-S pickup configuration. The body is made from premium alder sourced from the US Pacific Northwest and is beautifully finished in a custom Ocean Turquoise colour, which would have been a costly upgrade. It has a light ageing process, the subtlest offered by Xotic, providing a naturally worn-in appearance.
The neck is made of flame maple that has been roasted, and the fingerboard is rosewood with ivory inlays. It features a 9.5" radius and a modern C neck grip, which has a slight D shape on the bass side and a C shape on the treble side, similar to the SRV style. The fret wire is Jescar FW47104.
The pickups are two Raw Vintage RV-60s and one Raw Vintage RV-PAF. Handcrafted in Southern California, the RV-60s feature vintage-style push-back cloth leads and deliver a rich mid-range and creamy vintage tones. With extra coil winds, they offer a hot output with rolled-off highs and punchier mid-range, suitable for both old-school 'straight to amp' players and new-school multi-effect high-gain players. The Raw Vintage PAF Humbucker features period-correct plain enamel copper wire and custom Alnico magnets in a nickel casing, offering a wide tonal range with pristine highs, punchy lows, and incredible clarity.
For hardware, this Xotic XSC-2 boasts Gotoh vintage locking tuners for high performance, a Gotoh Vintage tremolo, Raw Vintage pure steel saddles for that unmistakable vintage tone, and Raw Vintage RVTS-1 Tremolo springs. These springs are designed to replicate the fat, rich tones of 50s and 60s Stratocasters, with a superb torque feel and stabilised arming, thanks to the precise match of vintage spring tension. The Raw Vintage saddles provide additional clarity, sustain, and a bell-like quality that enhances the overall performance and feel of this exceptional instrument.
Given that this is a custom-ordered, USA-made guitar of the highest quality, the second-hand price on it offers someone an absolute steal. Go for it - this kind of value is getting harder and harder to find.
