From the renowned Anderson S Family, the Drop Top guitar stands out with its instantly recognisable and beautiful exotic wood top. This top is "dropped" or bent to create a swooping, comfortable forearm contour, resulting in stunning body lines. Introduced in 1990, the Drop Top revolutionised the "S" style guitar by being the first to feature a maple top that was dropped to enhance player comfort. This innovative design choice necessitated a body top thickness of 3/16 of an inch, enriching the instrument's sonic character. The Drop Top is not only a pleasure to play and hear, but its striking appearance might just outshine the player if they aren't dressed to match.

The Drop Top's flame maple top is paired Swamp Ash to deliver deep lows, sparkling highs, and an open, scooped midrange. The maple top complements and enhances the quintessential Swamp Ash tone, making it ideal for versatile performances.
Visual and Tactile Beauty
Finished in an eye-catching Cajun Red to Dark Red Burst with binding, the Drop Top is visually spectacular, especially with the finish-matched reversed headstock. The neck is made of maple with a Ziricote fingerboard, featuring a gloss headstock and a natural stain back. The slight curve of the fingerboard radius (12 to 14 inches) provides a comfortable playing surface, facilitating effortless playability and smooth string bending. Anderson's conical radius design is the result of meticulous research, offering the best of all worlds in terms of comfort and playability.

The Even Taper neck back shape is Anderson's most popular profile for their 25 1/2-inch scale length guitars. This sleek silhouette maintains a consistent feel from the nut to the 12th fret, allowing for seamless transitions to the upper frets. The nut width is 1 11/16 inches, and the jumbo stainless steel frets ensure slick, fast, and easy playability. Anderson's use of stainless steel frets, since 2002, has been lauded for their smooth string bends and liquid vibrato, enhancing the player's technique and touch.
Versatile Hardware and Electronics
Equipped with a vintage tremolo system, the Drop Top features SA2R, SA2, and H3+ pickups. The SA Series pickups, known for their hum-cancelling properties, offer a dynamic voice with full-bodied low mids and clear highs. The H Series humbuckers provide a robust tone with ample lows and highs, maintaining midrange power without sounding squashed. The H3+ pickup, in particular, offers a thicker, fuller, and hotter tone, perfect for fluid musical legato.
The '5-Way Add Bridge with Splitter' switching system offers extensive tonal flexibility. The 5-way switch operates normally, while the push/pull tone control adds the bridge pickup to positions 1 and 2, creating combinations like Neck + Bridge and Neck + Middle + Bridge. Tuning
The Drop Top utilises the Buzz Feiten tuning system. Anderson has been using this system since 1996, providing a compromise in tuning where everything sounds pleasing, as opposed to traditional even-tempered tuning that can leave some notes sounding off.
