Nordvang Mid Air
New Small Chasis - TS-Style Circuit From The Nordvang Gravity But With Added Functionality
Nordvang's Mid Air pedal combines classic TS tone with modern versatility. Housed in a compact Hammond 1590B3 enclosure, it features the iconic TS circuit with added tweaks like the "air" knob for glassy tones and a "lows" boost switch. A 4-way dipswitch customizes your sound. The clean boost circuit adds up to 18dB without coloration, and the "eq" toggle offers voicing options. The innovative buffer circuit can be switched on/off and handles power failures smoothly. With top-quality components, including Vishay resistors and WIMA capacitors, the Mid Air is built for lasting performance.

With this new pedal, Nordvang wanted to shake things up from th norm. Chasis size has always been a battle for Nordvang - not wanting to give up on their bespoke quality components but needing to reduce the size to cater to a larger demographic of pedal users - but after this long fight, they have debuted their new standard in the Mid Air. Stacked PCB circuits in a Hammond 1590B3 enclosure have lead to this TS inspired by their iconic Gravity pedal - with added functionality of course!
At the heart of the Mid Air lies the TS circuit, faithful to the original's revered sound. However, Nordvang has taken steps to enhance versatility without compromising the beloved TS-10 tone. Alongside the familiar "drive," "tone," and "level" controls, the addition of the "air" knob lets you extend the TS mid-hump into higher frequencies, imparting a crystalline quality to your sound. Meanwhile, the "lows" toggle switch offers two extra levels of low-end boost, catering to diverse playing styles.
Unlocking further tonal customisation is a concealed 4-way dipswitch. This allows for tailored adjustments, such as a clean output boost for lower gain settings or a choice between symmetrical and asymmetrical clipping diode configurations for enhanced dynamics.
The boost circuit, operating independently of the main drive, adds an extra layer of sonic prowess. Designed as a "clean" boost around an op-amp, it remains faithful to your core tone while offering up to 18dB of gain. The "eq" toggle switch provides three distinct voicings, catering to various tonal preferences.
A standout feature is the innovative buffer circuit. Unlike conventional buffered bypass designs, Nordvang's approach mirrors the Gravity, featuring buffered bypass for both the TS and the K-circuit. This means that when the pedal is off, two buffers are in series, preserving signal integrity. The buffer can be switched off via a dip switch, accommodating players who prefer true bypass. In the event of a power failure, the pedal seamlessly switches to true bypass mode, ensuring uninterrupted signal flow.
Nordvang's commitment to quality is evident in their choice of components. Vishay metal film resistors, WIMA audiophile capacitors, Taiway switches, and Pure-Tone jacks ensure that the Mid Air is built to last, delivering exceptional performance for discerning guitarists.
