Description

National Guitars, located in San Luis Obispo, California, are known for their exceptional craftsmanship in building resonator instruments. From processing raw lumber to forming metal sheets, mixing lacquer, and performing final assembly, nearly every step of the production process is handled in-house by a dedicated team of artisans. Their passion for creating the finest wood and metal-bodied guitars is reflected in every instrument they produce.

One of National's standout models is the El Trovador, part of their Singlecone range. First introduced in 1932, this guitar quickly became popular with musicians, and its name, which translates to "The Troubadour," evokes its timeless appeal to travelling musicians and storytellers. This reissue, designed in collaboration with renowned blues and swing guitarist Mike Dowling, stays true to the spirit of the original while incorporating modern craftsmanship.

The El Trovador is distinguished by its large, four-inch-deep mahogany body, which is prized for its warm and resonant sonic properties. The wooden soundwell inside the body houses the resonator, enhancing the guitar's unique projection and tonal clarity. The body is bound with multi-layer celluloid, a classic touch that pairs beautifully with the purfling border around the iconic coverplate, adding to its vintage charm.

The neck of the El Trovador is crafted from solid mahogany and is paired with an ebony fretboard, offering smooth playability and durability. The rosewood headstock overlay adds an extra element of elegance to the guitar's overall design. This combination of high-quality woods contributes to the El Trovador's rich, deep, and warm tone, making it one of the most sought-after models amongst musicians - both past and present.

With its historical roots and modern enhancements, the El Trovador is a favourite amongst blues, swing, and folk guitarists who appreciate its distinctive sound and classic style.

The guitar comes with a deluxe National hardshell case, ensuring it remains protected during travel and performance.
