Music Man Tim Commerford Natural Short Scale Active Stingray

Back in '76 Music Man released a bass that would become an instant classic, the Music Man StingRay. For 40 years it has been at the forefront of bass innovation and inspired some of the slickest grooves ever to hit the lower frequencies. It’s safe to say that Tim Commerford is one of the most iconic players to every pickup a Stingray. Tim has been a part of the Ernie Ball Music Man family for many years, and this collaboration is the natural evolution of his enduring passion for the StingRay bass.

With a lush naturally finished Ash body this Stingray is bright and punchy, perfect for cutting through in a live setting, and with the iconic black oval pickguard it looks every bit the classic Stringray.

The Select Maple neck is a real joy to play, this 30” short scale version feels smooth and comfortable underhand. With an 11” radius, 22 high profile stainless steel frets and dot inlays it feels great and offers a great playing platform.

The StingRay humbucking pickup features powerful neodymium magnets, bringing you more output and a wider range of sounds. A beveled pickup cover thumb rest and adjustable finger ramp allow for a more comfortable fingerstyle hand position playing above or adjacent to the pickup. This Active version includes an active 3-band preamp with 18 volts of extra clean headroom. The super comfortable string-thru bridge is fitted with individual mute pads allowing you to customize the degree of string dampening to suit your tastes.
