Ladies and gentlemen, we are extremely excited to announce the re-introduction of Mesa Boogie amplifiers into the United Kingdom! Originally founded back in 1971, Mesa Boogie quickly established themselves as a real force to be reckoned with in the tube amp game. Under the careful guidance of legendary amp builder Randall Smith, Mesa Boogie would go on to drastically alter the world of music and quickly became the original "boutique" amplifier brand. When players like Carlos Santana, James Hetfield, John Petrucci and Dave Grohl choose your amps, you know you must be doing something right! Back in 2021, our friends over at Gibson acquired the Mesa Boogie brand and promised to take their iconic designs to new heights.
We’re thrilled to announce the return of the Boogie® Split Back 2x12 Cabinet—an iconic piece of gear that helped shape the biggest rock sounds of the 1980s. Used extensively by some of the era’s most influential guitarists, this innovative cabinet blends the best qualities of open-back and closed-back designs in one versatile package.
The Boogie Split Back design delivers the best of both worlds—an open upper chamber for airy, articulate cleans and a sealed lower chamber for tight, punchy low end. This design provides guitarists with a broad tonal spectrum without needing multiple cabinet types. The 2x12 Split Back model is loaded with two Celestion C90s, which help to deliver its signature sound. Its open upper chamber provides shimmering, articulate cleans, while the lower ported chamber enhances low-end punch and definition. This unique design allows guitarists to cover a wide tonal range without the need for multiple cabinets, making it a powerhouse for both stage and studio use.
Like all MESA cabinets, the 2x12 Split Back is wired at 8 Ohms and includes a rear jack plate with a main input and a parallel output. This allows for easy expansion—when adding another 8 Ohm cabinet, the total impedance becomes 4 Ohms. Crafted for durability and premium tone, the 2x12 Split Back features a robust marine-grade Baltic birch plywood shell, wrapped in rugged Bronco Tolex™ vinyl with hand-formed leather corners.
