Mesa Boogie Lonestar Special 1x12 Combo - Used

The foundation of this amp is its channel 1. It truly brings that iconic "black pannel" tone with its punchy shimmering twang and angelic-ly warm clean sound - especially when using the full 30 watts of headroom. The magic in this channel comes from pushing the 12AX7 tubes in the vintage gain structure to clip to produce incredible solo possibilities for blues or root chording styles. Channel 2 actually has 2 modes to it with the base mode being a slightly higher gain version of the clean channel 1 which really digs in on those blues/roots drive tones. At the flick of a switch, this channel becomes a high gain champion by adding an extra triode tube gain stage and additional drive control. The 3 cascading gain controls are reminiscent of the pivotal Mark I and unlock shattering lead sounds. And with the 3-way voicing switch, you can turn your gain Thick and Thicker for those chunky rhythm chugs. Both channels feature gain, treble, mid, bass, presence, and master volume controls.

Opening up the hood, we come to the heart of the amp - the power section. The Lonestar Special utilises Mesa's Multi-Watt technology to be able to independently set each channel to run at either 30, 15, or 5 watts to perfectly achieve the desired tube clipping characteristics. No matter which mode though, the power section is always pure class A power - with 30w and 15w modes running in Push-Pull mode with 4 or 2 EL-84 tubes respectively or using only 1 EL-84 in single-ended operation on the 5w setting to preserve the most musical of all harmonic content. Mesa also includes the option to run its Recto Tracking feature which automatically switches to tube rectification when on 15w and 5w modes to give an authentic feel that is silky and inspiring to play. Switching over to a 30w channel will bring out the silicon diode rectifier for more punch, more tightness, more headroom, and a livelier attack.

The output control is your best friend when going between venues and playing settings to change your overall volume without changing the characteristics and mix of each channel - and with the footswitchable "solo" boost you can add that extra volume edge at will to stand out in the spotlight.

The authenticity continues with the inclusion of a dual voice, all tube, long spring reverb chamber to add that space and shimmer to your sounds that really bring your tone to life. Fine tune with the bright/warm switch for the perfect tone to suit your style. The fully buffered series FX loop with send level control opens up a realm of possibilities for extra effects (especially time based effects) to shape your tone to however you dream it to be!

The amp is all housed in a marine grade Baltic birch cabinet for sturdy construction that will stand the test of time. Featuring Mesa's custom designed Celestion Custom 90 12" speaker, you have plenty of headroom to push your playing with.

Please Note: This amp is Pre-Owned but is in Good condition. It has general signs of wear, such as faded colouring and slight fraying to the textiles, and the leather handle has cracking but overall it is very good condition with no signs of impacts or being handled roughly. The tubes no longer original and have been replaced - with Sovtek EL-84 power tubes on view. The footswitch (and lead), amp cover, and owner's manual are all included and this amp came in with a matching 1x12 Mesa cabinet (sold separately).
