Inspired by the golden era of tweed amps, this 40-watt model delivers warm, harmonic richness through its Fane A60 12" speaker, renowned for its articulate midrange and vintage character, ideal for players chasing authentic tones. Enhanced with optional tube-driven reverb and tremolo, this amplifier also features a distinctive Ground knob that controls the negative feedback loop around the power amp—unlike the J20’s attenuator (VAC). When turned down, the Faux Ground knob applies damping to remove distortion artifacts for a cleaner sound; when turned up, it gradually reduces negative feedback, unleashing a growlier, more lively tone with enhanced dynamics. Note that, similar to the Presence control, there’s DC in this circuit, so the pot may sound scratchy while turning (a normal trait), but it’s quiet once set.
This well-maintained model is in excellent condition and comes supplied with a padded cover for secure storage and transport, ensuring its hand-aged lacquered tweed finish and finger-jointed pine cabinet stay protected.
