Gretsch G6128T-1959 Duo Jet Relic Masterbuilt "DG Inspired"
The Gretsch G6128T-1959 Duo Jet Relic is one of those incredible guitars that seamlessly manages to honour its rich heritage whilst pushing forward with modern vision and functionality. Inspired by the Golden Era of Gretsch production, the '50s and '60s, this Duo Jet is inspired by the one belonging to Pink Floyd icon David Gilmour. Gilmour first used it back on his 1978 solo album and most recently on his "Rattle that Lock" album from 2015.
The Mahogany body is finished in authentic relic Black, the relic work is great and the Dark Mahogany stain on the back and sides really compliments the design, it looks every bit the classic Gretsch. There is some incredible lacquer checking on show here, it's a real vintage inspired beaut. The Mahogany neck has a rich Ebony fingerboard and sports the Thumbnail inlays and with the standard neck profile and medium jumbo frets, it's comfortable and really well balanced.
The Dual TV Jones Classic humbuckers have incredible response and definition. They have a great dynamic range and really respond to the way you play, slick and subtle one second and roaring the next. With a treble bleed on the master volume, you retain punch and clarity on the top side even at lower volumes.
A Bigsby vibrato unit offers great stability and is perfect for all those country, jazz and blues licks. A real stunner, this guitar is a great example of timeless Gretsch design. This Masterbuilt beauty comes complete with Gretsch Cowboy case for the ultimate protection on the road and in the studio.
