The Gibson 2018 ES-355 Black Beauty pays tribute to the iconic Les Paul guitar that debuted in 1957. The Les Paul Black Beauty started as a personal mission back in the late '40s and developed in to arguably the most revered electric guitar model of all time. Designed by Les Paul with the aim of looking great to play while wearing a tuxedo, the Black Beauty was often used by Paul himself on TV performances. I think it's fair to say it's a real eye catcher.
With a 3-ply Maple/Poplar/Maple with a weight relieved Maple centre block, it’s beautifully balanced, comfortably weighted and nice and loud. With a classic Ebony nitrocellulose lacquer, it’s tonally rich and delivers that vintage Gibson vibe.
The Quartersawn Mahogany neck boasts a 24.75" scale length, a 12" radius and rounded C profile, with rolled binding. A Dark Rosewood fingerboard with Mother of Pearl full block inlays features 22 medium jumbo frets and feels perfectly balanced and poised.
A trio of Memphis Historic Spec humbuckers delivers those classic tones, deep, rich and resonant they offer great clarity. These PAF style pickups are slightly underwound and feature unbalanced coils for a truly historic sound. Hand wired with matched 550k pots and Orange Drop capacitors, this guitar is an unfiltered tone machine.
Complete with a Gibson hardcase, this is a real player’s guitar and a fitting tribute to a real guitar hero.
