Outstanding stuff from the Gibson Custom shop. One for all you serious jazz players out there. This guitar looks absolutely stunning and has an unbeatable rich, warmth to the tone, it is just such a pleasure to play.
Wes Montgomery is widely regarded by many as one of the biggest jazz guitar legends out there, and this guitar really exemplifies those early 50s/60s iconic jazz tones. The guitar is modelled to what he was most known for, the L-5 design with a rounded cutaway and a single humbucker in the neck position.
Features include a 20 fret Ebony fingerboard with pearl block inlays on Gibson's ES-rounded neck profile, so it plays like an absolute dream. The humbucker at the neck is Gibson's superb '57 Classic which mirrors the sound of the much sought after PAF humbucker and delivers a truly smooth, balanced tone. The body is made from high grade Spruce on top, with premium quality maple back and sides. It combines this with all period correct gold hardware, the ABR-1 bridge base is made from ebony with the famous L-5 tailpiece. All this in an amazing vintage sunburst finish!
