Mike Campbell is rock 'n' roll royalty, the long term writing partner and sideman of Tom Petty, Campbell was responsible for many of the iconic hooks and guitar lines from the classic Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tracks. As well as being a Heartbreaker, Mike Campbell has written and recorded with Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and more recently been a member of Fleetwood Mac, now that's a CV to be proud of!
The Fender Custom Shop Heartbreaker Telecaster pays tribute to the vintage Fender that Campbell has relied on for much of his career. The ultimate workhorse guitar, this Telecaster oozes rock history. The original Heartbreaker was reverse engineered by Masterbuilder Dale Wilson and documented to the smallest detail before being handed to the Custom Shop team to create 30 stunning replicas.
With the appearance of a vintage guitar this Custom Shop model benefits from all the playability and reliability of a brand new one. The lightweight Ash body is finished in a stunning thin Natural lacquer, period correct; this finish features a truly authentic relic ageing.
The rift sawn Flame Maple neck features a 7.25" radius for a superb playing action without any choking. The Custom profile, 21 frets and heavy relic neck finish offer a really organic playing experience.
With the Telecaster design being considered by many to be the original workhorse guitar the Custom Shop Heartbreaker Telecaster needs a pickup pairing that can deliver the classic Tele' twang. With a pair of custom-wound vintage style single coils, it boasts a versatile and well balanced selection.
