The Fender Custom Shop do some pretty special things, and with the Custom Shop '52 Telecaster they hark right back to the early days of Leo Fenders vision.
A traditional Ash body is finished in a majestic Red Sparkle Journeyman finish. The Journeyman is a very lightly aged nitro finish; this gives the look and feel of a vintage guitar that has been lovingly cared for over the years. This finish will wear beautifully with time and develop its own character even further. It also allows the natural resonance of the body to sing and sustain much more effectively compared with other finishes.
The rift sawn Roasted Maple neck has a smooth, authentic, vintage feel. With a 9.50" radius, 1951 U shape, 21 frets and a 25.5"scale length, it's a real joy to play.
With the Telecaster design being considered by many to be the original workhorse guitar, the Custom Shop '52 Telecaster needs a pickup pairing that can deliver the classic Tele' twang. With a hand wound Twisted Tele' pickup at the neck and a hand wound 58 Tele at the bridge, it boasts a versatile and well balanced selection.
The original '52 Telecasters are the stuff of legend, a real collector's piece. This Custom Shop '52, well that's a player's guitar!
