The Gibson SJ-200 Standard Autumnburst acoustic guitar carries the legacy of the "King of the Flat-Tops," a design that has been a benchmark since its introduction in 1937. This guitar is built with a super jumbo body style, offering a large sound projection and presence. The body is constructed from AAA flame maple for the back and sides, paired with a AAA Sitka spruce top. This tonewood combination contributes to a balanced tonal response, with the spruce providing clarity and the maple adding warmth and projection. The gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish enhances the natural beauty of the wood and allows it to resonate freely.
The neck is made from two-piece maple with a rounded profile, providing a comfortable feel for players. The Indian rosewood fingerboard has a 12-inch radius and features 20 standard frets, along with mother-of-pearl graduated crown inlays. The scale length is 25.5 inches. The neck is joined to the body using a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint with hot hide glue, a traditional method that contributes to the guitar's resonance and stability.
Hardware includes gold Grover Rotomatic tuners for precise and stable tuning. The nut, saddle, and bridge pins are made from TUSQ, a material designed to offer consistent tone and durability. The bridge itself is a rosewood two-bar SJ-200 Moustache design. The guitar is equipped with an L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup system, which combines an internal microphone and an under-saddle piezo pickup. This system allows players to amplify the guitar's natural sound for stage and studio use, with soundhole-mounted controls for volume, mix, phase inversion, battery check, and mic level. A Gibson hardshell case is included to protect the instrument.
