The Southern Jumbo is renowned for its proficiency to belt out country rhythms or acoustic blues leads. Original examples are amongst the most prized war-era flat-tops in todays vintage market. This new Murphy Lab Southern Jumbo pays tribute to those classic models, most specifically the incredible 1942 edition.
This Southern jumbo features Rosewood back and sides alongside a stunning thermally aged Red Spruce top. Together these woods create a beautifully organic sounding tone that is extremely balanced whilst still remaining exciting to the listener. The southern jumbo is equally at home with big chords or soft finger picking. The aged Vintage sunburst is truly stunning, the lacquer cracking and attention to detail is truly unparalleled.
The Mahogany neck is super comfortable and great for both bold chordal work and subtle fingerstyle playing. The vintage spec C profile feels great and really allows you to play with confidence. The Rosewood fingerboard is smooth and feels great underhand. It is adorned with traditional Mother of Pearl Parallelogram inlays and features a 44.95mm nut width.
