Description

One of history's most iconic bands hit the scene hard in 1969 with their self-titled debut album - none other than the legendary Led Zeppelin. The union of Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, John Bonham, and of course Jimmy Page changed music forever with a pioneering sound that defined hard rock and heavy metal.

Our friends at Gibson Custom are excited to honour one of Jimmy Page’s most iconic and influential instruments, we are of course talking about his legendary 1969 EDS-1275 Doubleneck! Gibson has been making double neck electric guitars since the late 1950s, but Jimmy was the player who defined the EDS-1275 from the day it was delivered to him. The Gibson EDS-1275 allowed him to play the numerous 6 and 12-string acoustic and electric guitar parts of Stairway to Heaven during live performances. It’s safe to say it’s one of the most important guitars in rock history!

The Gibson Custom Jimmy Page EDS-1275 is a meticulously crafted, limited edition guitar designed in collaboration with Jimmy Page. Every aspect of this instrument, from its tone to its aesthetic features, has been shaped by Page's personal input, ensuring it delivers a truly authentic experience. Through the use of new 3D scanning technology, Gibson have measured every inch of Jimmy’s original instrument, ensuring that these hand-crafted re-issues are as close to the original as physically possible.

The one-piece Mahogany body is super resonant, allowing every single not played to resonate and sustain for what seems like a life time, it’s seriously impressive! The double-cutaway design allows for exceptional access to the full length of both the 12-string and 6-string necks. The VOS ’69 Cherry Nitrocellulose lacquer gives the guitar a slight aged patina without any dings or lacquer cracking. It’s an effective clone of Jimmy’s EDS-1275 as it originally appeared prior to its extensive use by Page during various Led Zeppelin.

Both Mahogany necks have long tenons and are hide glue fit, which give this awesome instrument a real vintage vibe. Both the 12-string and 6-string neck feature an exact replica of the profiles found on Jimmy’s original. Gibson’s 3D scanning technology captured every detail on Jimmy’s hand-shaped profile, which allowed Gibson’s master luthiers to shape these necks to an exact spec. The lush Indian Rosewood fingerboards feature 20 medium jumbo frets, aged cellulose nitrate parallelogram inlays, a 12” radius, and a 42.8625mm nut width. The 18 tuners are Kluson® double line, double ring style, just like those found on the original guitar, and even the headstocks feature the correct 17-degree angle and specific logo stylization found on Jimmy’s EDS-1275.

This awesome guitar is filled with classic Jimmy Page tones, mainly due to the exceptional pickups which have been custom wound to match the spec found in Jimmy’s original. Two uncovered Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Custom buckers with double black bobbins and Alnico 5 magnets are used for the two 6-string pickups, while a covered pair is installed on the 12-string neck. The two volume and two tone controls feature CTS pots and period correct ceramic disc capacitors.

The guitar ships with a Gibson Custom hard-shell case, along with a vintage leather strap and a certificate of authenticity. Don’t miss out on this awesome recreation.
