The Gibson Hummingbird Custom Ebony takes the classic Hummingbird design and incorporates features inspired by the Les Paul Custom. This guitar starts with the established Hummingbird foundation: a solid Sitka spruce top for balanced tone and projection, and mahogany back and sides for warmth and richness. The 24.75" scale mahogany neck features a comfortable, rounded profile, making it suitable for a variety of playing styles. The ebony fingerboard, known for its smooth feel and clear tone, is bound and adorned with mother-of-pearl Custom Block inlays.
Aesthetically, the Hummingbird Custom Ebony distinguishes itself with a striking ebony nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Multi-ply binding on the top, back, and headstock adds an elegant touch, while the bound ebony fretboard further enhances the guitar's refined look. The headstock showcases a Les Paul-style design with a Custom split diamond inlay in mother of pearl, setting it apart from the standard Hummingbird. Gold Grover Rotomatic tuners provide precise and stable tuning.
The guitar's construction includes traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing, which contributes to its resonance and projection. The bridge is a traditional belly-up ebony design, complemented by a bone saddle for optimal string vibration transfer. A black and white Hummingbird pickguard, along with a separate plain pickguard, are included. The nut is also made of bone, contributing to the guitar's overall tonal clarity.
For amplified performance, the Hummingbird Custom Ebony is equipped with L.R. Baggs Session VTC electronics. This system features soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls, providing convenient access to adjust the amplified sound. The guitar comes with a hardshell case for safe storage and transport.
