This Masterbuilt edition by Fender's Senior Masterbuilder Paul Waller is an exquisite tribute to the '62 Strat that became John's go-to for decade after decade, reflecting every unique detail of the original guitar. From the carefully aged nitrocellulose lacquer finish to the worn body contours, this model is crafted to be as close as possible to the original, delivering a playing experience that transports you straight to the core of Frusciante's iconic sound.
The body is crafted from a two-piece select alder, known for its resonant qualities, and is finished in a beautifully aged 3-Colour Sunburst, perfectly capturing the look of his well-loved vintage instrument. The early-'60s "C" profile neck is made from rift-sawn maple, offering stability and comfort, while the 3A rosewood fingerboard completes the vintage feel with its warm tones and smooth playability.
One of the standout features of this Stratocaster is the set of Custom Shop hand-wound Abigail Ybarra pickups. Known for her legendary work at Fender, Ybarra's pickups recreate the sought-after tonal qualities of pre-CBS Strats. I mean, let's not forget she worked with Leo and started at Fender in 1956! This guitar gives players access to warm, clear, and expressive tones, with an Ilitch Electronics Hum-Canceling system ensuring minimal noise. The vintage-style synchronised tremolo and nickel/chrome hardware add authenticity, while the narrow tall frets (6105) and vintage-style tuners complete the model's golden-era specs.
