For 2022 our friends at the Fender Custom Shop are excited to announce this awesome recreation of Jerrys iconic and heavily modified 1955 Stratocaster.
This 1955 Stratocaster was originally gifted to Jerry by famed U.K singer-songwriter Graham Nash. Garcia immediately adopted the guitar as his main instrument for the next two years, during which it became his first dramatically modified guitar. Although Garcia and the Dead became well known for heavily altering their equipment through the bands own offshoot gear company, Alembic, it was this Strat that first received the extensive workbench surgery that served as a Grateful Dead hallmark. This run will be limited to just 100 pieces worldwide and will be crafted by Fender Master Builder Austin MacNutt
A 1-Piece sort for lightweight Ash body has been finished in a super awesome natural nitro lacquer, it's a real beauty. This guitar has gone through the full masterbuilt treatment. Austin MacNutt has painstakingly examined every last detail of the legendary original to ensure he creates a faithful replica. This guitar has been beautifully aged and will continue to age as you play due to the super thin Nitro lacquer used. The relic is truly unbelievable; the attention to detail here is meticulous and super authentic
The rift-sawn Maple neck has a super smooth finish and feels great underhand. With a 7.25" Radius, 55 Soft V neck shape, 21 Medium Vintage frets and of course the classic dot inlays. This Jerry Garcia Strat can handle anything you through at without breaking a sweat, it is a great platform for both rhythm and load playing. Its also loaded with a custom brass bridge and tailpiece for that authentic Garcia experience.
In order to deliver those Iconic Grateful Dead tones you need a strong and versatile pickup set. This Strat is loaded with a trio of Custom Josefina hand-wound pickups which have been perfectly matched to the originals. They are beautifully dynamic and articulate as every single coil should be. Thanks to the 5-way switch and vintage wiring you can really sculpt this Strat to taste.
