For 2021 our good friends at the Fender Custom Shop are happy to announce a super limited run to celebrate the life of one of the all time greats. This incredible Strummer Esquire will be built by one of the very best. With a career spanning over 25 years, Master builder Jason Smith has earned his legendary status as one of Fender's elite.
A 2-Piece offset seam Alder body is finished in a super awesome Olympic White with an awesome custom paint work, designed to really capture the visuals of one of Joe's most iconic instruments. This guitar has gone through the full Master builder treatment, beautifully aged by Jason Smith to ensure he creates a faithful replica of one of Punk Rocks most infamous instruments. The relic is truly unbelievable; the attention to detail here is meticulous and super authentic.
The flat-sawn Maple neck has a super smooth finish and a AAA grade Rosewood fingerboard. With a 9.5"radius, '59 "C" neck shape, 21 medium jumbo frets and of course classic dot inlays inlays. The Joe Strummer Esquire can handle anything you through at it without even breaking a sweat, it's a great platform for both rhythm and lead playing.
In order to deliver those classic Joe Strummer tone you need a strong and articulate pickup to capture every detail in the playing. Loaded with a Josephina Hand-Wound 55/56 Tele bridge pickup wired to a 3-way switch with '59 Esquire wiring. This pickup is beautifully dynamic and versatile.
In classic Master built fashion this Esquire is loaded with premium hardware such as a 3-Saddle Vintage Style Tele bridge, which can be setup and used as a top-loader or a traditional string through body setup. It also includes Schaller mini tuning machines which deliver excellent stability.
The Joe Strummer Esquire beautifully captures the magic of the rise of Punk Rock in Great Britain, this guitar not only created a culture shift in both music and culture, it is a representation of change and defiance, everything Joe stood for. With a Certificate of Authenticity, strap and a custom pink anvil case with "Strummer" stencil and leopard lining. This is one super slick guitar.
