Fender Custom Shop George Harrison "Rocky" Strat
Fender Custom Shop and Masterbuilder Paul Waller are honoured to introduce a faithful recreation of this unique piece of guitar history. Meticulously crafted using the original as a template, Paul Waller has delivered yet another knockout tribute.
There are very few guitars as instantly recognisable as George Harrison’s infamous Stratocaster, Rocky. Acquired by the supremely talented Harrison back in 1965, Rocky was originally a Sonic Blue Stratocaster that first featured on Help!, most notably on the solo to "You’re going to lose that Girl". A few years later in 1967, sometime after Sgt.Pepper’s, Harrison used a selection of multicoloured dayglo paints and applied the psychedelic paint job that has made Rocky such a unique and recognisable guitar.
Now in 2020, Fender Custom Shop and Masterbuilder Paul Waller are honoured to introduce a faithful recreation of this unique piece of guitar history. Meticulously crafted using the original as a template, Paul Waller has delivered yet another knockout tribute.
An 2 piece Alder body is flawlessly finished and authentically aged. Copied down to the most minute detail, Rocky is indistinguishable from the original. Paul Waller was the man behind the Jimmy Page Dragon Telecaster set and his attention to detail is simply incredible.
The 5A Flame Maple neck boasts a 7.25" radius and 21 Vintage frets. The 1960 Oval C profile feels great underhand and allows a great platform for both slick lead lines and more rugged chordal work. The Rosewood fingerboard is delicious and looks ace.
Paul Waller tempted Fender pickup guru Abigail Ybarra out of retirement to work on the hand wound ‘60s Strat pickups. Abi is Fender royalty and knows all the secrets to unlock the tonal potential of any guitar. A key member of the Custom Shop team since the beginning, her input into this project can’t be understated!
Supreme quality from top to bottom and shipped in a Fender Custom Shop Deluxe hardcase, it's easy to see why the Fender Masterbuilders are so highly regarded. Guitars of this calibre just don't come around every day, we love it and we're pretty sure you will to!
