Description

By 1963, the Precision Bass had firmly entrenched itself in the fabric of popular music, becoming a staple in the hands of top musicians gracing stages and studios worldwide. Despite the introduction of Fender's Jazz Bass in 1960, the Precision Bass stood unchallenged, its design largely unchanged throughout the early '60s.

The Custom Shop ’63 Precision Bass embodies this iconic legacy, boasting a two-piece select alder body adorned with a Journeyman Relic lacquer finish. Its quartersawn maple neck adopts a '60s-style 'oval C' profile, complemented by a round-lam rosewood fingerboard with a 7.25" radius and 20 medium jumbo (6150) frets.

Equipped with a Custom Shop hand-wound '62 Precision Bass pickup, meticulously crafted to vintage specifications, this bass delivers an authentic low-end thump synonymous with its esteemed lineage. Vintage wiring, alongside master volume and tone controls, further enhance its timeless sound. Additional features include a four-ply brown shell pickguard, four-saddle vintage-style bridge, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut, and disc string tree. Completing the package is a deluxe hardshell case, strap, and certificate of authenticity.

Sporting the distinguished Custom Shop Journeyman ageing, this bass exhibits the character of a well-loved instrument that has seen its fair share of use, yet remains in commendable condition. Passed down through generations or exchanged between hands, it has been cherished, primarily finding solace in home settings with occasional ventures into jam sessions or weekend gigs. Despite its signs of wear, including finish checking, friendly nicks and dings revealing the wood beneath, slightly dulled hardware, and moderate playing wear, it stands as a remarkable discovery for any discerning musician.
