The Fender Custom Shop do some pretty special things, and with the Custom Shop '51 Custom Telecaster they really push the boundaries of Leo Fenders vision.
A lightweight off centre Ash body is finished in a crazy Super Heavy Relic Aged Natural nitro lacquer, period correct, this finish will wear beautifully with time and develop its own character even further. It also allows the natural resonance of the body to sing and sustain much more effectively compared with other finishes. This is some of the most extreme ageing that we’ve ever seen on a team built Fender, it’s certainly going to divide opinion but we love it!
The rift sawn Maple neck has a smooth, vintage feel. With a 7.25"-9.50" compound radius and medium vintage frets, the '51 Telecaster features a 10/56 style V profile; it feels comfortable and robust, just like a vintage Fender should.
With the Telecaster design considered by many to be the original workhorse guitar, the Custom Shop '51 Telecaster needs a pickup pairing that can deliver the classic Tele' twang. Loaded with a hand wound Crushed Blackguard single coil at the bridge, you certainly get that famous Tele' tone. This beaut has a Seymour Duncan Seth Lover hum bucker at the neck, super versatile it delivers authentic PAF tones, the perfect complement to this guitar!
