Introducing the latest addition to the Fender Custom Shop lineup for 2024: the 1954 Telecaster, a homage to the transitional period in Telecaster history. In early 1954, Fender bid farewell to the iconic single-ply black phenolic pickguard, transitioning to the Nocaster Blonde-finished body adorned with a single-ply white ABS pickguard, aligning with the emerging design of the Stratocaster.
This meticulously crafted 1954 model pays homage to the revered appointments of early Telecaster guitars. Featuring a two-piece select ash body, with the characteristic offset seam on the treble side, and a one-piece rift sawn maple neck boasting the '54-style 'U' back-shape, alongside a vintage compound 7.25" to 9.5" fingerboard radius. Equipped with a duo of Custom Shop hand-wound Loaded '51 Nocaster pickups, this guitar emanates the classic clarity and twang of its early-'50s predecessors, with an added punch.
Embracing the allure of aged authenticity, this 1954 Telecaster undergoes the Custom Shop Relic treatment, appearing as though it has endured countless gigs in smoky clubs and rowdy bars, yet stands resilient today. Its weathered appearance tells a tale of years past, with finish checking adorning the body and an array of scars, dings, and dents from bridge to headstock.
Further enhancing its premium stature, this Telecaster boasts 21 medium vintage (47095) frets, fat '50s tele wiring, a 3-way switch, single-ply black phenolic pickguard, '51-'54 Tele bridge with brass barrel saddles, vintage-style tuning machines, a bone nut, disc string tree, deluxe hardshell case, along with a strap and certificate of authenticity.
