The guitar features a chambered ash body, which provides a lighter overall weight while enhancing resonance and sustain. This makes it comfortable for extended playing sessions, whether on stage or in the studio, and gives the instrument a well-balanced tone with a focused midrange. The natural grain of the ash also gives each guitar a visually distinctive finish.
A key component of this model is the set of custom-voiced Ben Gibbard Mustang pickups. These pickups are designed to capture the tone and character of Ben's original vintage Mustangs, offering a dynamic, articulate response that's ideal for a wide range of genres. The simplified electronics setup includes a three-position rotary selector switch, cleverly disguised as a tone knob, and a master volume control. This setup reduces distractions and makes it easier to switch sounds quickly while performing.
