Cordoba Luthier GK Pro | Electro - Natural
Solid Spruce Top, Solid Cypress Back & Sides
The Luthier series is a high-end range of instruments that Cordoba offer. Here at Peach we are proud to not only stock all the currently offered Luthier models but to also photograph each one individually so that the exact guitar you're browsing is the one that will be dispatched to you. Every model in the series is all-solid and all of the common nylon-guitar configurations are present.
The GK Pro is made by hand in a boutique and small workshop and designed for the experienced player looking for a great priced all-solid flamenco guitar. It is a concert-level instrument that features the best of modern and traditional guitar construction. Flamenco guitars tend to have a lower action than classical guitars. The reason for this is classical players will want to play various dynamics without getting any fret buzz from the guitar. Flamenco players on the other hand embrace the buzz as part of the sound and in fact even require it for some techniques. They are usually built with a spruce top (whereas a classical tends to use spruce or cedar) and cypress back and sides - for bright, snappy attack. Cordoba also make a range of 'negra' models to compliment the aforementioned 'blanca' models. These will feature a different wood choice for the back and sides.
In this instance, the GK Pro goes with the classic all-solid spruce and cypress combination for authentic Spanish sounds. The body is a little thinner than a classical guitar and a clear tap plate is installed on the top (to protect it from the flamenco style). The neck is fitted with a two-way truss rod so that the action can be adjusted over time if needed or desired.
As well as having a cutaway, the GK Pro features the Fishman Prefix Pro Blend preamp and pickup system. This is a high-end system that is perfect for slimmer guitars such as the GK Pro. As well as having an under saddle piezo pickup, an internal microphone is present which helps to capture the sound of the guitar more accurately when amplified. The level of blend between the piezo and the microphone is fully controllable, as is the EQ. There are also notch filters controls (to help fight feeback) and a phase switch.
The GK Pro ships with a high-quality set of Savarez strings and a polyfoam case that offers excellent protection whilst still being very light. Extra touches of beauty are added in the form of a pearloid 1920s style rosette and a high-gloss finish.
