Description

The Collings OM2H Orchestra Model Acoustic Guitar is a highly sought-after instrument, prized by fingerstyle players and flatpickers alike.  The "OM" body shape, originally designed in the 1930s, offers a comfortable playing experience, whether on stage or at home. Its compact size and relatively shallow body depth (approximately 4 inches) contribute to a balanced tone and quick response.

This particular OM2H is a pre-owned model in excellent condition, virtually indistinguishable from a new guitar that has seen minimal handling.  It boasts a number of desirable custom features, including a solid Engelmann spruce top, which offers a slightly different tonal characteristic compared to the standard Sitka spruce, often described as warmer and more responsive. The back and sides are crafted from East Indian rosewood, known for its rich, complex tone.  The guitar also features ivoroid body binding and butt wedge, herringbone top purfling, a "zipper" backstrip, and diamonds and squares fingerboard inlays. The rosette showcases a more intricate 2-style design.

The guitar's voice is characteristically Collings, delivering shimmery highs, a punchy midrange, a tight, clean low end, and maximum headroom. This makes it suitable for a wide range of playing styles.  This specific model features a custom short scale length of 24 7/8" and a wider 1 3/4" nut width, which will be a dream for players looking for this particular feel.  The neck profile is a Modified V.

Other specifications for this beautiful OM2H include a Honduran mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard with abalone short diamond and squares inlays, and a bone nut and saddle.  Other standard features include nickel Waverly tuners, a high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer body finish, and a high gloss polyester resin neck finish.  The guitar comes with a deluxe hardshell case. This particular guitar was shipped originally by Collings on 12 October 2022 and represents a fantastic saving on a new model, whilst pretty much being in exactly the same condition as one being sold for the first time.
