Originally launched in 1961 as a temporary replacement for the single cutaway Les Paul, the SG gained favour with rock and blues players who were impressed by its innovative design. Probably the most instantly recognisable bass in the Gibson bass armoury, the SG delivers a mega sound despite its short scale length! The 2019 SG Standard Bass represents a great mix of early '60s vision with contemporary versatility and feel.
A classic all Mahogany body finished in a gorgeous Heritage Cherry gives this guitar that beautiful vintage Gibson look while a Mahogany neck and Rosewood fingerboard, with its fast and rounded neck profile, enhance the rich tone.
Classic Gibson tones come courtesy of a pair of Gibson SG Rhythm and Lead bass pickups. With a really unique sonic character it is versatile, dynamic and offers crystal clear note definition.
