Yamaha FG Series | FG9 R - Natural

Yamaha, a world-renowned manufacturer of musical instruments, has introduced the FG9 series of steel-string acoustic guitars, which are specifically designed for singer-songwriters who are looking for the highest level of expression. These dreadnought-style guitars are handcrafted in Japan and come in two versions: the FG9 R, with Indian rosewood back and sides (this version), and the FG9 M, with mahogany back and sides. It is their flagship line of steel-string acoustic guitars, which includes manufacturing classical guitars since the 1940s and expanding to electric and steel-string acoustic guitars by 1966. Yamaha combines traditional craft skills with innovative technologies to produce some of the best-selling guitars and amplifiers in the world.

This FG9 has been designed to deliver outstanding projection, while providing exceptional clarity and detailed articulation. The combination of penetrating projection and extraordinary clarity distinguishes the FG9 from all other instruments in its class. Singer-songwriters in particular will appreciate the projection and clarity, as well as the guitars' remarkable responsiveness to playing dynamics. It the result of cutting-edge acoustic measurement and 3D structural measurement processes employed during their design. Numerous prototypes were built by Yamaha's skilled luthiers in their custom shop, utilising innovative craft skills and techniques. This level of scientific measurement and analysis, combined with innovative craftsmanship, is unique to Yamaha.

The FG9 R features an Adirondack spruce top with tapered edges that provide structural strength while allowing the body to vibrate more efficiently, contributing to both power and sensitivity. The rosewood back and sides give deep lows and sparkling highs to complement a vocal performance.

The neck has a new structural design that combines bolt-on and glued construction to increase body vibration and improve maintainability. Neck and body joints are finished and adjusted with high precision. The rounded V-shaped neck is easy to grip, and its durable semi-gloss polyurethane coating facilitates smooth hand movement.

The precision-engineered wood body is coated with a thin nitrocellulose lacquer that does not interfere with vibrations, allowing the true sound of the instrument to be heard. The fretboard, bridge, pins, and truss rod cover are all made of ebony. The guitar has scalloped X bracing, a scale length of 25.6", and a nut width of 1 3/4".

This beautiful instrument has an elegant yet understated Japanese aesthetic, with distinctive fingerboard inlays that resemble traditional Japanese Kumiki woodworking. The rope-shaped inlay and purfling on the rosette is a motif deeply rooted in Japanese culture.
