The Imperial Preamp Pedal features two channels, each capturing the vintage character of the Imperial MKII. The Rhythm Channel delivers the clean, touch-sensitive tones of a classic '60s blackface combo, with smooth breakup as you dig in. The Lead Channel channels the warmth and grit of '50s tweed amps, shifting from articulate cleans to a bold midrange growl. Its Mid-Bite control shapes the low end while adding high-end presence and gain for a focused, British-style crunch.
At the heart of the Imperial Preamp Pedal is the same phase inverter circuitry found in the Imperial MKII amplifier, driven by one of its three 12AX7 tubes. This unique 0 watt power amp design captures the full harmonic complexity and dynamic feel of the original amps power section. Its this innovative approach that makes the Imperial Preamp Pedal a true extension of the MKII, delivering its complete sonic character in a compact, pedalboard-ready form. Like its namesake amp, the Imperial Preamp boasts foot-switchable spring reverb and tremolo (digital on the preamp pedal) which are assignable to each channel.
The Imperial Preamp Pedal features low-latency impulse response and power amp simulation technology, allowing its authentic tube tones to go straight to the front of house or your recording interface. Each channel comes preloaded with three of Tone King's top choices which are selectable using dual 3-way toggle switches. There are 12 additional IRs to choose from in the included Tone King Editor software (powered by Synergy) which are easy to swap in and out of the pedal's six available slots.
With the Tone King Editor software You can assign the Reverb, Tremolo and IR to each of the channels right on the pedal itself, making it a powerful and easy-to-use sonic tool. The Tone King Editor software also unlocks all of the Imperial Preamp's modern control giving you access to full MIDI capability.
