The Rock Slide | Ariel Posen Signature Slides
Modified Size - Classic RS Excellence
The Aged Brass version of Ariel's slide is designed to have the sound of a standard brass Rock Slide but with an awesome vibe-heavy look. Each one is hand-aged with a unique result. The ageing does not involve sanding, dinging or scuffing; this results in the playing surface being completely smooth with no unwanted scratchiness to the sound or feel.
The Polished Brass version gives a rich, warm tone and a golden glow in the looks department. The Rock Slide Polished Brass slides are effectively one solid brass rod that has been carved by a CNC machine to fit your finger. The brass formula that they use is very heavy to give excellent tone and sustain. The walls of the slide are generously thick and get even more so towards the end of the slide, as it tapers on the inside. There is also a tone ring at the fingertip that gives additional mass and helps your finger stay securely in place. This slide really does cut through the mix.
If you opt for the Aged Brass or Polished Brass, either way you are getting a stretched out version of a Rock Slide Small Brass Balltip slide. This not only gives some extra weight but also full string coverage. The Balltip slides still feature everything great about the original Rock Slides. That's to say they are cutaway, tapered on the inside and extremely comfortable. However, the ball nose means this slide can also be used on instruments such as Dobro or lap steel. It also gives two playing surfaces, resulting in a longer and shorter slide option. Finally, the Balltip adds even more weight for fantastic long sustain and the ability to play on the tip of the slide.
