The Taylor 214ce-K DLX is a deluxe version of the popular 200 Series Grand Auditorium, offering enhanced aesthetics and improved tonal performance. Upgraded appointments like Sentinel inlays, cream binding, and gold tuners add to its visual appeal. Equipped with ES2 electronics and a deluxe hardshell case, the 214ce-K DLX is a versatile instrument suitable for practice, songwriting, recording, and performance.
The Taylor 214ce-K DLX takes the popular 200 Series Grand Auditorium to a new level of elegance and performance. Designed as an accessible entry point for musicians seeking a reliable, rich-sounding, and stage-ready instrument, this Deluxe model enhances the already impressive standard 214ce-K with a suite of aesthetic and tonal upgrades.
The foundation of the 214ce-K DLX is its layered Hawaiian koa back and sides, paired with a torrefied Sitka spruce top. Koa is prized for its stunning visual beauty and warm, balanced tonal characteristics, while the torrefaction process applied to the Sitka spruce top simulates the ageing process, imparting a played-in warmth, resonance, and depth that is typically found in vintage instruments. This combination of tonewoods provides a rich, complex tone with excellent clarity and projection.
A significant upgrade in this Deluxe model is the use of Taylor's cantilevered variant of V-Class bracing. While the standard 214ce-K utilises standard X bracing, the DLX benefits from this advanced bracing pattern. This bracing system significantly enhances the guitar's sonic performance, delivering increased volume, sustain, and low-end power while maintaining exceptional clarity across the tonal spectrum. This makes the 214ce-K DLX even more versatile for various playing styles and musical genres.
The 214ce-K DLX also features a range of refined visual appointments that elevate its aesthetic appeal. These include striking Sentinel fretboard inlays, a single-ring rosette made from Italian acrylic, elegant cream body binding with a matching cream heel cap, and eye-catching gold Taylor tuning machines. These details, combined with the faux tortoiseshell pickguard, matte-finished mahogany neck, and soundboard purfling carried over from the standard model, create a sophisticated and cohesive look.
Like its standard counterpart, the 214ce-K DLX features a comfortable mahogany neck with a matte finish for smooth playability and a Crelicam ebony fretboard. The 1-11/16" nut width offers a comfortable feel for a wide range of players. The guitar is equipped with Taylor's Expression System 2 (ES2) electronics, providing a natural and accurate amplified tone for stage and studio use. The 214ce-K DLX comes protected in a Taylor deluxe hardshell case and is strung with D’Addario XS Coated Phosphor Bronze Light strings.
