The string is first ball-ended on sophisticated machinery that ensures every string is perfectly uniform and is secured with a variable series of twists that is dialed-in perfectly for each gauge to offer the greatest stability while minimising stress on the wire itself. Each string is then wound one at a time through a manual and time consuming process that heavily relies on the skillset of the winder. Their job is to ensure that each turn of the wire occurs at exactly the right time and at the exact tension required. Doing this right takes time and requires tremendous focus, but it's what truly makes a string a Stringjoy string, so it's worth every second.
Stringjoy bass guitar strings are roundwound from American neckel alloy windings and round steel core wire. They have a full, resonant low end and a medium top end—not too bright, not too mellow — giving these strings a balanced sonic profilewith optimum output.
Their Long Scale Nickel-Plated Steel Roundwound bass string sets have a taper at 37.1 from the ball end. This is the ideal taper-length for all 34 and most non-string-thru 35 scale basses.
