Sigma SG Series | DM-SG5 - Heritage Cherry Sunburst
Solid Sitka Spruce Top - Mahogany Back & Sides
In the late 1960s, American guitar manufacturers faced significant competition from affordable, high-quality Japanese-made guitars. To counter this, American companies launched "Sigma Guitars" in 1970. These acoustic guitars were crafted by skilled workers in efficient Japanese factories and inspected in the US before being sold. Sigma Guitars quickly built a reputation for exceptional quality in both construction and sound, earning a dedicated following. Today, second-hand Sigma models are highly sought after, as owners are often reluctant to part with them.
Introducing the Sigma SG Series, a range of acoustic guitars that combines quality materials and craftsmanship. Each guitar features a select solid spruce top, ensuring excellent sound quality and durability. The series is distinguished by its elegant pickguards and a range of premium features, making these guitars a top choice for musicians. All models in the SG Series are equipped with advanced pickup systems and D'Addario strings, providing a perfect blend of acoustic and electric capabilities.
One standout model in the series is the Sigma DM-SG5. This guitar has a D-14 fret body size and a dovetail neck joint construction, providing a sturdy and resonant build. The top is made from solid Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are crafted from mahogany, giving the guitar a warm and rich tone. The mahogany neck has a low-profile design, and the nut and saddle are made from bone, ensuring precise intonation and sustain. The fingerboard and bridge are constructed from Micarta, a durable and smooth material.
The Sigma DM-SG5 also features a 24.75" scale length and a 1-3/4" neck width at the nut, offering comfortable playability. It is equipped with a two-way truss rod for easy neck adjustments and chrome Grover diecast tuning machines for stable tuning. The Fishman Sonitone electronics provide excellent amplified sound quality. The guitar has a polished gloss finish with a Heritage Cherry Sunburst on the top and an ageing toner on the back and sides, giving it a classic and refined appearance. It comes with a softshell case for protection and D'Addario EXP16 strings for superior sound right out of the box.
