The PRS Starla is the younger sibling of the much coveted PRS Mira, released as a Core Line model back in 2008; the Starla is a retro vibed dream machine. Recent years have seen the Starla feature as part of PRS S2 line, but this beauty here is one of the lesser seen, original Core Line models, and its a real winner.
With a Mahogany body, the Starla features carved top and a mega gloss Cherry finish, it has a real vintage quality and has a real unique look. Capturing that middle ground between an SG and a Les Paul, the body is perfectly balanced and real resonant.
The Mahogany neck features a Rosewood fretboard with a wide fat profile, 24.5 scale length and 24 frets. The Abalone hollow birds were an optional upgrade and they add a premium feel. Its a really substantial neck and feels great underhand, designed by former PRS Private Stock designer Joe Knaggs, this one super cool guitar.
Loaded with a pair of PRS Alnico Starla pickups, this guitar kicks out a whole range of majestic tones. With a push pull tone knob you can split the coils for even greater tonal variation. Another really cool touch is the Bigsby B5, a great way to add some texture to your sound, it complements this guitar beautifully.
This guitar is used and does show signs of use. There is some heavy marking on the bottom edge of the guitar and several dings and marks across the back and top. We have tried to highlight these in our studio shots. Its definitely a guitar that has been heavily used over the last 10 years, it is purely cosmetic issues though, structurally and tonally it is absolutely spot on. Complete with hardcase, its a great feature of the PRS back collection.
