Celebrating four decades of guitar innovation, PRS presents the 40th Anniversary Custom 24 Limited Edition, an exclusive release limited to 200 pieces per colour worldwide. This model combines the legacy and craftsmanship of PRS's earliest designs with forward-looking upgrades that appeal to both collectors and serious musicians.
At its core, this Custom 24 model maintains PRS's trusted construction with a mahogany back and neck, paired with an artist-grade figured maple top. A nod to PRS's roots, the top has a "retro violin" carve, while the fretboard and headstock feature premium ziricote wood, delivering a distinctive tonal and visual character. The fretboard inlays are styled as "Old School" bird outlines, reminiscent of early PRS designs, and the headstock boasts a "Pre-Factory" eagle logo that celebrates the brand's heritage.
In terms of tone, the 40th Anniversary Custom 24 goes beyond tradition with the all-new PRS DMO (Dynamic, Musical, Open) pickups. These DMO Treble and Bass pickups were developed by Paul Reed Smith and the PRS New Products Engineering team to produce an open, vocal-like sound. This makes the guitar an incredibly versatile instrument, suited for a range of playing styles. Paired with a 5-way blade pickup switch, it offers numerous tonal possibilities.
The guitar also features the PRS Gen III patented tremolo bridge, designed for precise intonation, stable tuning, and ergonomic playability. Combined with PRS Phase III locking tuners, this setup ensures reliable tuning stability while enhancing tone transfer and resonance. Finished in a high-gloss nitro, this guitar is available in Tiger Eye and Sub Zero finishes, adding to its premium aesthetic. Each instrument comes in a PRS ATA Multi-Fit Moulded Case, complete with a hand-signed 40th Anniversary certificate, marking it as a piece of PRS history.
With only 400 total units available, this limited edition celebrates the evolution of the Custom 24 - PRS's foundational model - honouring both the company's legacy and the innovative spirit that will continue into the future.
