This fully enclosed, slim hollowbody design reflects Powers' deep connection to the vibrant cultural scene of San Diego's North County. Every contour and curve of the A-Type has been carefully considered for both aesthetic appeal and practical handling, ensuring the guitar looks stunning from every angle.
Playability and Comfort
The A-Type excels in providing an unmatched playing experience. Its lightweight, hollow body ensures comfort whether youre sitting or standing, while the contoured armrest and radiused body edges enhance overall playability. The neck is designed to be the ideal blend of not too big and not too slim, flowing seamlessly into a unique fretboard geometry. This split radius fretboard, asymmetrical from the bass side to the treble side, allows for maximum playability and effortless, choke-free string bending.

Equipped with PF42 pickups, the Powers Electric A-Type delivers a firm, bright response. These partial Faraday pickups, designed by Powers, blend modern magnetic structures with vintage inspiration to produce a sound that combines clarity and warmth. The trussed hollowbody, featuring internal soundposts and a braced solid-wood top, enhances lyrical sustain and resonance while suppressing feedback.
Hardware and Features
This particular model of the A-Type includes the innovative CamTail bridge system. The CamTail, a camshaft tailpiece engineered by Powers, compensates for string tension and gauge, ensuring the strings stay in tune during pitch changes. This system also features a zero-point return mechanism, allowing players to bend notes without pitch droop and easily adjust to a full floating vibrato.
